Freaking Slow Windows Vista? : One Simple Solution
The slowness in Windows Vista are mainly caused by the windows visual effect that makes your windows GUI looks very much prettier than the previous Windows XP.
The simple solution to this problem is to disable the mostly useless windows vista visual effect without disabling the Vista GUI. Here’s how :
- Click the Start button(the windows logo) and then Control Panel
- Click on System and Maintenance
- Click on System
- Click on Advanced System Settings on the left
- Under the “Performance” form , click on the “Settings” button
- When the Performance Options appear, click on the Custom option

I would disable everything in the box except for these few features:
- Show preview and filters in folders
- Show thumbnails instead of icon
- Smooth edges of screen fonts
- Use visual styles on windows and buttons
Press OK.
These will disables all the useless windows visual effect that slow down your system. Feel free to add or remove any of the features according to your needs
