How to Prevent Virus From USB Drive
If you’re using Windows XP and below and frequently use a removable drive such as thumb drive and external hard drive, there are big chances that your PC has been infected with viruses from the drive. Every time your USB drive is inserted to your PC, Windows will automatically execute the program which is set in the Autorun.inf file that might be a virus.
The solution to this problem is to disable autorun on all removable drives. Just follow the step below : -
- Click Start and the Run.
- Type in : gpedit.msc
- On the left panel, navigate to : Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System
- On the right panel, double click on “Turn Off Autoplay”
- When the properties dialog appear, check on “Enabled” option
- Select “All drives” from the drop down menu
- Press OK.
